Without extravagant ceremonies, Priyanka Jarkiholi, the Congress candidate for the Chikkodi Lok Sabha constituency, quietly filed her nomination papers at the Returning Office in Chikkodi on Thursday. She was accompanied by her father, Belagavi district minister Satish Jarkiholi, Athani MLA Laxman Savadi, minister Laxmi Hebbalkar, and other supporters.
Priyanka expressed her joy, stating that she was delighted to be the first granddaughter in their extensive family to participate in an election. She believed that the constituents would lend her their support and elect her with a significant majority.
Satish remarked that they had presented a fresh and youthful candidate in this election. He anticipated receiving strong backing from the public and securing victory. He added that there was no need to display their strength through rallies, as all Congress leaders in the district were united and determined to achieve success.
Hebbalkar mentioned that the Congress had provided opportunities to young leaders in Chikkodi and Belagavi constituencies. She noted that tickets had been allocated to various groups, including scheduled tribes, Lingayats, and Marathas, to ensure social justice. She believed this strategy would benefit them and asserted that there were no dissidents within the Congress. She expressed confidence that their candidates would secure victory with a significant margin.
Savadi commented that they had initiated meetings at the district, taluk, and village levels and intended to reach out to every voter. He emphasized that citizens would not base their votes solely on caste considerations. Instead, they would evaluate the governance of the past decade and consider the implementation of the five guarantee schemes before selecting the appropriate candidate.
