A prisoner at Hindalga Central Prison reportedly assaulted a guard due to what he claimed was a delay in receiving medical treatment at a hospital. The incident was revealed on Tuesday.
According to sources, Rahil, also known as Rohan, from Hassan, was recently transferred to the prison. He was housed in the high-security barracks. On Sunday, he complained of health problems and requested permission to be hospitalized.
Due to the delay in obtaining permission, he assaulted warder Vinod Lokapure, causing severe injuries. Warder Lokapure has been hospitalized at Belgaum Institute of Medical Sciences district hospital. The Belgaum Rural police are conducting an investigation.
