The prime accused, Kishore Salve, has surrendered and been arrested in connection with the ₹400 crore Belagavi robbery involving demonetised currency notes stolen from containers at Chorla Ghat. With his arrest, the total number of accused apprehended in the case has increased to eight.
Kishore Salve, identified as the main accused in the high-profile ₹400 crore robbery of demonetised currency, surrendered before the Ghoti police in Maharashtra’s Nashik district. The crime involved the theft of old currency notes from two containers at Chorla Ghat, situated along the Karnataka–Maharashtra border. Police later formally took him into custody.
Eight Accused Arrested So Far
Following Salve’s arrest, the number of persons arrested in the case has gone up to eight. The robbery has attracted significant attention due to the huge amount involved and the recovery of demonetised notes, with new developments continuing to emerge.
Special Investigation Team Constituted
Considering the gravity of the incident, the Maharashtra government has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to carry out an in-depth investigation. The SIT has been assigned to thoroughly probe all dimensions of the case and trace the wider conspiracy.
Probe Covers Multiple Leads
The SIT is investigating the case from several angles, including a complaint by businessman Sandeep Datta Patil alleging abduction and robbery linked to the incident. Authorities are also analysing a viral audio clip believed to be connected to the case. Officials have indicated that further arrests and revelations are possible as the probe continues.
