The Murgod police took action against a group of youths after videos showing risky jeep and motorcycle stunts during the birthday celebration of rowdy sheeter Suresh Bhajantri went viral on social media. The incidents occurred on State Highway 20 near Nuggenatti Cross on February 2.
Following the circulation of the videos, police seized 11 vehicles, including three jeeps and eight two-wheelers, involved in the stunts.
Those booked in the case include Suresh Bhajantri of Yaragatti, Jagadish Bhajantri from Koujalagi in Gokak taluk, Manjunath Nadumani of Sattigeri in Yaragatti, Vinayak Chikkaladinni of Gilihosur in Gokak, Ravi Dasappanavar of Yarazarvi, Ravi Alajja, and Vinayak Pulli of Budigoppa.
Police registered cases against the drivers for driving recklessly and negligently, blocking traffic, and carrying more passengers than permitted. Bhajantri was also charged for allegedly encouraging the stunt riders and being present at the scene.
The case has been registered at the Murgod police station.
