Following the conclusion of the initial phase of Lok Sabha elections, political parties are directing their attention towards the remaining 14 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state, set to vote on May 7. As per sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah are slated to conduct their respective campaign rallies in Belgaum district on the same day, representing the BJP and Congress party, respectively.
On May 7, the second phase of voting for the 14 Lok Sabha seats will take place. Tomorrow, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in Belgaum to garner support for BJP candidates, former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar and Anna Saheb Jolle, who are contesting from Belgaum and Chikkodi constituencies, respectively. The PM will deliver a speech to voters at the Malini City Grounds before heading to Uttar Kannada district. In Sirsi town, he will address a rally organized for BJP candidate Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri.
Also on the same day, the Chief Minister will tour Belgaum and the Chikkodi constituency to solicit votes for Congress candidates Mrinal Hebbalkar and Priyanka Jarkiholi, who are contesting from Belgaum and Chikkodi Lok Sabha seats, respectively. As per reports, the CM will speak at a campaign rally arranged in Yaragatti town within the Belgaum constituency and in Ugarkhurd within the Chikkodi constituency.
The Congress party is making efforts to secure victory in both Lok Sabha constituencies, traditionally held by the BJP. The second phase of voting will cover Dharwad, Belgaum, Chikkodi, Raichur, Kalaburgi, Bidar, Haveri-Gadag, Uttara Kannada, Davanagere, Vijayapura, Shivamogga, Bagalkote, Ballari, and Koppal.
According to PM Modi’s schedule, he will deliver a rally in Davangere before proceeding to Hospete, where he will engage with voters and remain overnight. The following day (April 29), he will conduct a rally in Bagalkote before departing for Solapur.
