Shanur Pujari, a 27-year-old from Adijambava Nagar in Gokak city, was killed after being brutally attacked by lethal weapons near a temple. The incident happened on Sunday night at 10.30 pm after he was coming home from his workplace.
Furious over the incident, the relatives of the deceased youth man began pelting stones, claiming that residents from the same colony were responsible for his death. One motorcycle and one car was damaged in the incident. Hundreds of individuals assembled in the area making the atmosphere tense. The police officers from Gokak Sahar Police Station reached the spot upon receiving the information about the incident and to control the situation. Meanwhile, the kin of the deceased staged a protest outside the police station, demanding arrest of the accused. As a preventive step, a KSRP squad has been stationed at the location, ensuring a strong police presence.
The District Superintendent of Police addressed the incident, stating that miscreants were responsible for the death of a young man in Bhimashankar Guleda, Gokak town. Prompt police intervention and investigation have stabilized the situation, and the environment is now calm. He mentioned plans to personally visit the site for inspection and confirmed the registration of a case at Gokak Shahar police station regarding the matter.
