Actor Nana Patekar will inaugurate the newly constructed Centra Care Hospital on Khanapur Road in Belagavi on Sunday. The hospital will focus on preventive, holistic, and technologically advanced medical care, said medical director Dr. Neeta Deshpande at a press briefing on Friday.
KLE Society president Prabhakar Kore and activist Manohar Kulkarni, popularly known as Sambhaji Bhide Guruji, will also be present at the inauguration.
Dr. Deshpande highlighted that the hospital offers customized preventive health check-up packages for various sections of society, aiming at early diagnosis and prevention. A key highlight is the CentraCare Institute of Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolic Syndrome, which provides comprehensive care for metabolic disorders. The weight management programme integrates dietary guidance, structured exercise, counselling, and medical treatment under one roof.
Additionally, the hospital will house the region’s only Cardiac Rehabilitation Centre, providing post-operative and post-procedural care for cardiac patients. With state-of-the-art operation theatres, Cath Labs, and telemedicine facilities, the hospital aims to ensure faster recovery and shorter stays, said Dr. Deshpande.
Co-director Dr. Rohit Deshpande mentioned that the hospital is currently pursuing entry-level NABH accreditation. Director Dr. Deepak Karanjikar and organ transplant coordinator Pramod Surlikeri were also present.
Meanwhile, in an anti-narcotics operation, Belagavi City Police arrested two individuals for drug peddling in Shahapur. The arrests took place in Siddharudh Colony on Vadgaon-Dhamane Road. The operation, led by ACP (Crime) S.R. Kattimani, was executed by PSI Manikanth Pujari and his team from Shahapur Police Station.
The accused, Prathamesh Mahesh Kanbarkar of Ganeshpur Galli and Aniket Dnyaneshwar Poth of Joshi Nagar, were caught with 1.115 kg of ganja worth ₹50,550 and a motorcycle valued at ₹50,000 used in the offence. They admitted to selling narcotics for financial gain. A case has been registered under the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway. The Police Commissioner and DCP have commended the police team for the successful bust.
