A grim case of murder and suicide linked to an alleged extramarital affair has shaken Bidi village in Khanapur taluk. The incident late Friday night claimed two lives and left both families shattered.
The deceased were identified as Reshma Tiravir (29), a mother of two, and Anand Sutar, a father of three. Police said the two had been in a relationship for nearly two years. Reshma’s husband had earlier complained to the Nandgad police station, after which officers had warned Anand to end the affair.
According to police, Anand allegedly entered Reshma’s house through the back door on Friday night. In a violent rage, he stabbed her multiple times in front of her daughter, killing her instantly. He then inflicted serious injuries on himself with the same knife. Though rushed to Belagavi Civil Hospital, Anand died en route.
Anand’s wife, who is expecting their fourth child, has been left in deep shock. The double tragedy has cast a pall of grief over the village, as relatives and locals mourn the devastating loss. Nandgad police have registered a case and are continuing their investigation.
