A disturbing incident has been reported from Machche village in Belagavi taluk, where a son-in-law allegedly assaulted his mother-in-law in public and tore her clothes. The incident was caught on CCTV, and a case has been registered by the police.
The accused, Bhairu Metri, along with some family members, is alleged to have carried out the attack. The woman, who was reportedly wearing a nightgown at the time, went to the Commissioner’s office and stated, “My son-in-law and his relatives stripped me naked on the street and physically attacked me.”
Reports suggest that the woman’s daughter had delivered a baby 12 days prior, and the husband had been pressuring to send her back, allegedly with the motive of having a male child. The mother-in-law had told him she would consider sending her daughter after four months. The accused is now facing allegations of assaulting her without provocation.
The CCTV footage shows the attack involving five individuals, including a woman and two girls. The incident falls under the jurisdiction of the Belagavi Rural Police Station.
