The government has introduced a special incentive at SVS Belagavi to encourage the required quorum attendance during assembly proceedings within the specified timeframe. The first 25 MLAs who arrive punctually will be presented with elegant tea cups and saucers featuring the logos of the Government of India and the Government of Karnataka. These distinctive souvenirs will be given based on their regular attendance on the days they arrive early.
The arrangements for the forthcoming winter session of the 16th Legislative Assembly have been finalized. Scheduled from December 4th to 15th, Assembly Speaker UT Khader highlights the significance of addressing topics that contribute to the welfare of the North Karnataka region.
During a press briefing at Suvarna Soudha in Belgaum, Speaker Khader emphasized that the discussions in this session will encompass not just the holistic development of the state but will also center on the advancement of North Karnataka. The priorities of the House proceedings will revolve around these discussions.
To add to the aesthetics of Suvarna Soudha, permanent LED electric lights have been set up in the structure, guaranteeing upkeep for the next decade. Earlier, electric lamp embellishments were limited to the session periods. However, moving ahead, electric lamps will be adorned on Saturdays, Sundays, and national festivals to draw the attention of students and tourists.
In a bid to enhance involvement, the duration granted for students to witness the sessions of both legislative houses has been prolonged, extending from 10 minutes to 20 to 30 minutes. Prior to observing the proceedings, participants will receive information about the principles of the constitution and the democratic system through educational sessions and a documentary film.
Up to now, we’ve accumulated a collective sum of 2512 queries and references for this winter session. Furthermore, the speaker mentioned that three ordinances are slated to be introduced in the shape of a bill.
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the state being named Karnataka, students will arrange an exhibition featuring the rich cultural arts from different areas of the state. This enthralling showcase will occur every day from 9 am to 11 am, located prominently in front of the grand steps of Suvarnasoudha.
Anticipating a reduction in the number of protests, Chairman Horatti highlighted the commitment to addressing the concerns of North Karnataka as a top priority for interested MLAs. To mitigate protests, ministers have been actively engaging with unions and activists, following discussions with relevant stakeholders. Speaker Horatti also disclosed penning a letter to the Chief Ministers and Ministers, urging measures to dispel the perception of the Belagavi session as a protest platform. As a result, a decline in the expected number of protests is foreseen this time.
At present, the Vidhana Parishad has received a cumulative of 1207 questions for the upcoming proceedings, out of which 1057 are queries without content. Alongside these, 111 letters under Rule 72 have been presented. Speaker Horatti emphasized the comprehensive nature of the session’s agenda.
