Political tensions have resurfaced in Belagavi district over the transfer of government officials, with fresh controversy erupting amid claims that several transfers occurred without the knowledge or approval of District Minister Satish Jarkiholi.
Sources indicate that Jarkiholi, a close associate of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, is displeased with the recent developments. While he had previously expressed concerns in private, this time he is said to have raised the issue directly in front of the Chief Minister.
During the discussion, Jarkiholi reportedly questioned how many of his recommended transfers had been cleared, in contrast to those supported by other political figures. His open discontent reportedly took many by surprise.
Although Jarkiholi is usually not actively involved in transfer matters, his intervention this time is attributed to worries over administrative effectiveness and Belagavi’s overall progress.
Meanwhile, there are rising allegations that some individuals have been misusing the names of ministers and legislators to manipulate transfers, allegedly demanding large sums for postings. Sources further reveal that several officers who paid hefty amounts for previous transfers are now disillusioned with the results.
