Ramesh Basappa Hongala from Bisanakoppa village in Mudalagi taluk has been sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment and fined Rs 20,000 by the 6th Additional District and Sessions Court of Belgaum for the murder of his wife, Sridevi. The court’s decision came after Ramesh was found guilty of repeatedly harassing his wife for dowry, along with excessive alcohol consumption.
Despite his wife’s refusal to comply with his demands for money and gold, Ramesh strangled her to death on January 12, 2021. The case was registered at Kulgoda police station, and the verdict was delivered by Judge S. Manjunath, with government prosecutor Nasreen Bankapura presenting the case.
