A group of men brutally assaulted a man in front of his wife in Bengaluru’s Doddanekundi area on Sunday night. Ananthmurthy and Prashanth assaulted Sahishnu, while Bhagyalaksmi, a woman, is accused of attacking Sahishnu’s wife, Rohini. A case has been registered under IPC Sections 324, which deals with causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means, and 354, which relates to assault or criminal force against a woman with intent to outrage her modesty.
“At around 10:30 pm, when Sahishnu went to get his Hyundai i20 car parked on an empty plot spanning half an acre near his apartment and next to the suspects’ house, Ananthmurthy questioned why had he parked his car there as there was an ongoing civil dispute over the land between him and building owner where the victims stayed,” the police investigator said.
The incident, recorded on camera, has gained widespread attention after the video went viral. The footage depicts several cars parked in the vacant area. The couple from Belagavi stated that they were unaware of any land dispute and would not have parked their vehicle there if they had known.
“An FIR was filed the same night and arrest procedures were initiated against the three,” a police officer said. “They have been served notice of appearance under Section 41A of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC),” he added.
The building owner allegedly had a land dispute, leading residents to park their vehicles on the empty plot. As per the victims’ accounts, they would have opted for different parking spots had they known about the land dispute.
