The Youth Wing of the Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti has invited Maharashtra leaders to Belagavi to help resolve tensions between Kannada and Marathi communities.
A delegation led by Shubham Shelke met with former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and other prominent leaders.
The delegation raised concerns that the Karnataka government is allegedly harassing Marathi speakers. They also claimed that Kannada groups have escalated an isolated incident of alleged molestation of a minor into a major conflict, leading to the arrest of five innocent individuals.
Thackeray assured the delegation that he would raise the matter with the Karnataka government. The group also met with leaders Ambadas Danve and Sanjay Raut, who expressed intentions to visit Belagavi in the future.
