Following a letter from Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to his Maharashtra counterpart Eknath Shinde, urging the release of water from the Koyna dam to the Krishna river, Shinde has consented to the water release to Karnataka.
PWD Minister Satish Jarkiholi announced that the Water Resources Department authorities in Maharashtra would imminently release water to the Krishna river. Additionally, he conducted a visit to Raibag taluk on Monday to assess the Krishna river’s water level and emphasized that the state government was exploring various options to guarantee sufficient water supply to drought-affected regions. He commended Siddaramaiah’s endeavors to secure the release of water from the Koyna dam for the state.
