As a part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, a campaigner has drawn widespread attention by undertaking the cleaning of the Ghataprabha river.
Shankar B. Gowda (Patil), a resident of Chigadolli village in Gokaka taluk, is a veterinary artificial insemination activist. Inspired by Prime Minister Modi, he dedicates over an hour daily to cleaning the Ghataprabha river that flows near his village, alongside his regular work duties.
Since Prime Minister Modi participated in cleaning the Ganga River, he has consistently been engaged in cleaning the Ghataprabha River daily. He gathers floating garbage from the river, lets it dry, and then burns it.
Dr. Joshi, Anandarao Ghorpade, and local residents are collaborating on the river cleanliness initiative. They emphasize the need for rivers to flow naturally. Disposing of items like clothes and slippers pollutes the water and disturbs the river’s ecosystem. Therefore, Shankar Patil urges local organizations to take stringent measures against those who litter the river.
I have been motivated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cleanliness campaign for the Ganga River. I aspire to witness the Ghataprabha River flowing cleanly by removing and incinerating garbage, said Shankar Gowda.
