The government nursery will carefully select saplings to be stored near Suvarna Vidhana Soudha, as the secretarial staff has pinpointed the designated area for planting. During the joint legislature session in Belgaum starting Monday, all 300 legislators are scheduled to participate in a tree-planting initiative.
Speaker UT Khader expressed, “We’ve arranged for the planting of 300 saplings around Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belgaum. Each sapling will feature a specially designed plaque bearing the legislator’s name, creating a lasting memorial for them to revisit in the years to come.” The saplings, sourced from the government nursery, will be stored near Suvarna Vidhana Soudha, and the secretarial staff has already identified the planting locations. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, Speaker Khader, Council Chairman Basavaraj Horatti, all 34 ministers, and the 225 Assembly and 75 Council legislators are all set to participate in this initiative to enhance the greenery around Suvarna Vidhana Soudha.
Khader also announced that Suvarna Vidhana Soudha will now be permanently illuminated during sessions, departing from the previous practice of temporary lighting for sessions. The new permanent lighting, featuring laser and color options, will extend to weekends as well.
In addressing the facilities at Suvarna Vidhana Soudha, Khader acknowledged the challenges faced by staff in accessing amenities in Belgaum city. He revealed plans to establish a comprehensive food court to address this concern, featuring popular options like Hatti Kaapi.
Preparations for the significant administrative shift from Bengaluru to Belgaum are underway, with most secretariat staff expected to relocate over the weekend. Room allocations for key figures such as Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar have been finalized, further facilitating the smooth transition to Suvarna Vidhana Soudha.
