Women and Child Welfare Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar has condemned BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for remaining silent about the purported sex racket linked to Member of Parliament Prajwal Revanna (JDS).
She pointed out the inconsistency between their outspoken denouncement of Neha Hiremath’s murder in Hubballi and their lack of response to the Prajwal Revanna case.
During a press conference in Belgaum centered on the circulating sex videos associated with Prajwal Revanna, she queried why BJP leaders were neglecting such a grave offense.
She called upon Jagadish Shettar, the BJP contender from Belgaum, to champion the cause of the women impacted by the Prajwal Revanna controversy. The Minister emphasized that the Congress party consistently denounces violence against women and undertakes requisite measures without politicizing the matter.
She appealed to BJP leaders, specifically Mangala Angadi and Jagadish Shettar, drawing parallels between their reaction to Neha’s case. She urged them to uphold the slogans they frequently advocate for, like “Nari Shakti” and “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao,” by backing the women impacted by the Prajwal Revanna situation.
She also urged Modi to clarify his position on the issue and raised questions about the destiny of the mangalsutras belonging to the women involved.
The Minister accused Union Minister Amit Shah of being aware of Prajwal’s sex scandal, despite which the NDA has nominated Prajwal from Hassan. Former BJP MLA Preetham Gowda reportedly raised this matter with Shah and other senior leaders. Hebbalkar stated that Devaraje Gowda, a BJP leader from Hassan, informed state BJP chief Vijayendra about the scandal, but no action was taken.
Furthermore, Hebbalkar insisted that Prajwal should be promptly brought back to India, as he is believed to have flown to Europe. She called for the issuance of a red corner notice against him.
