A tragic accident occurred near Murgundi in Athani taluk of Belgaum district, where a KSRTC bus collided with a car, resulting in the immediate death of three individuals. The victims, Girish Balloragi, Rahul Maleshi, and Sangamesh Amargonda, were residents of Kalaburagi and were returning after offering prayers at the Mahalaxmi Temple in Kolhapur.
Radhika Maleshi sustained critical injuries in the crash. Another passenger, Vinayak Prasad Tiwari (30), was seriously hurt and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Athani.
The incident took place on the Athani-Kagawad State Highway on Sunday. While several bus passengers suffered minor injuries and were admitted to Athani Public Hospital, a fourth victim reportedly succumbed to injuries at the hospital.
A case has been registered at the Athani Police Station, and investigations are underway.
