In a breakthrough, the Khanapur police have solved four separate theft cases, recovering assets valued at ₹14.90 lakh, including a motorcycle, a camera, a car, and other items. The accused have been remanded to judicial custody.
Those arrested include Sameer Suraj Patil of Joyta, Shoaib Rafiq Marihal of Parishada village, Shubhani Rajesab Toli, Atti Salauddin Sandi, and Aziz Babasab Tallur.
The investigation began following a complaint lodged on July 2, 2025, by Mahesh Kumbara of Garlagunji, reporting the theft of a Royal Enfield bike from Ganesh Colony, Khanapur. The police seized the bike, valued at ₹2.90 lakh. In a separate case, a Canon camera and lens were recovered, bringing the total seizure in both cases to ₹3.60 lakh.
Following a complaint regarding stolen parts of a JCB, police confiscated equipment and the vehicle used in the theft, valued at ₹4.80 lakh. Additionally, acting on a complaint filed by Sunita Lohara of Sonara Galli, Belgaum, about a car theft near Gangawali village in Khanapur taluk on March 4, 2025, the police seized a car worth ₹4.50 lakh.
The operation was carried out under the leadership of DSP Veeraiah Mathapathy, PI L.H. Gavadi, PSI Malannagouda Biradara, A.O. Niranjan, Additional PSI, and staff members B.G. Yaligara, J.I. Kadroli, and B.S., with the support of the District Technical Cell Division’s Vinod Takkannavar and Sachina Patil.
