A shocking incident has come to light in B.K. Ugara, Kagawad taluk, where a man murdered his six-month pregnant wife after developing an affair with another woman.
The accused, Pradeep Kirangi, a lawyer by profession, had married Chaitali two years ago after a love affair. Police said Pradeep later became involved with his senior in college and, to continue the relationship, conspired to kill his wife.
Investigations revealed that Pradeep struck a deal with his friend Rajendra, offering ₹15 lakh to eliminate Chaitali. He reportedly attempted to kill her twice earlier but failed. On the third attempt, Chaitali was killed by being hit on the head with a heavy object.
To cover up the crime, Pradeep staged it as a road accident and even informed the police, claiming his wife was injured and admitted to hospital. However, discrepancies in his statements and the absence of injuries raised suspicion. When confronted, Pradeep confessed to the murder and disclosed the involvement of his accomplices.
The Kagawad police have arrested Pradeep and two others, while efforts are on to nab two more suspects linked to the case.
