Former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar asserted on Thursday that the state government led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah might collapse shortly after the Lok Sabha elections. Shettar claimed that Siddaramaiah had recently instructed his party workers to secure victory for the Congress in Mysuru, indicating his desire to retain his position. According to Shettar, Siddaramaiah risks losing his position if the Congress fails to win in the Mysuru constituency.
During a press briefing in Belgaum on Thursday, Shettar remarked that a majority of Congress legislators expressed dissatisfaction with their party leadership, citing the lack of attention from the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and cabinet ministers. He asserted that this situation strongly suggests the imminent collapse of the government following the Lok Sabha election.
To reinforce his argument against the government, Shettar mentioned that a Congress MLA had publicly stated recently that Siddaramaiah would be compelled to step down if the Congress loses the Mysuru seat. He emphasized that there was no necessity for any form of ‘Operation Lotus’ to topple this government, as it would collapse on its own.
The BJP candidate from Belgaum criticized the state government for its ineffective implementation of guarantee schemes, attributing it to a lack of funds. He accused the government of aiming to halt all guarantees due to its failure to fulfill promised implementations.
Shettar mentioned that for the forthcoming BJP campaign in the Belgaum Lok Sabha constituency, state party leaders have sought the participation of various prominent figures, such as PM Narendra Modi, UP CM Yogi Adityanath, and Union minister Nitin Gadkari, among others. Additionally, a coordination committee meeting between BJP and JDS leaders was conducted in Belgaum to strategize for the upcoming campaign in the area. Shettar emphasized in the meeting that the alliance between the two parties would significantly strengthen the BJP’s position.
