Former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, the BJP candidate for the Belagavi Lok Sabha constituency, celebrated Ugadi with a housewarming ceremony on Tuesday. Shettar, who shifted from Hubballi to Belagavi following his nomination by the party leadership, hosted the event.
Recently, Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar criticized Shettar, labeling him as an outsider seeking political resurgence in Belagavi without a local address. She questioned where constituents would find him if he were elected as their MP.
In response, Shettar rented a house and organized a housewarming event, viewed as a rebuttal to Hebbalkar’s comments. Addressing reporters at his new residence, Shettar clarified that he rented the house as promised to the people, not in reaction to Hebbalkar’s remarks. He also announced plans to establish an office in the city to facilitate interactions with the public.
Confident in his prospects, Shettar asserted that he is receiving positive feedback from the electorate and expressed optimism about winning the election by a significant margin.
