Belagavi police have filed a case against an Instagram user for allegedly sharing content that could incite communal tensions. Police Commissioner Borase Bhushan Gulabrao urges responsible use of social media
The user, identified by the handle @iz_lam_kima_kichuth, reportedly made a post referencing the recent gang rape of a minor in the district. In the post, he named the accused individuals and attempted to give the incident a communal angle while also making derogatory remarks about a particular religious community.
Authorities have registered a case under Section 192 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for intentionally provoking actions that could lead to rioting. The user has been served a notice to appear before the investigating officer.
Police Commissioner Borase Bhushan Gulabrao appealed to the public to use social media platforms with caution. “Everyone must contribute to preserving peace and public order. Any breach of the law will be met with firm action,” he stated.
