Ahead of the Winter Session of the State Legislature, the Belagavi Municipal Corporation has started inspecting water quality in hotels across the city. The initiative is part of enhanced safety measures for the Chief Minister, Ministers, and other officials attending the session.
The inspections cover drinking water testing, food safety, and wastewater management, with an initial focus on water quality. Dr. Sanjeev Nandre, the Municipal Corporation’s Health Officer, oversees the collection of water samples, which began on Monday, December 2.
Inspection Costs to Be Covered by Hotels
The collected water samples are being sent to the District Health Office for testing, and the results are expected within 72 hours.
Although officials and Ministers typically rely on bottled water, authorities have emphasized testing hotel water supplies to prevent safety lapses.
Preparations for the Legislature Session
Over 80 hotels and government rest houses in Belagavi and nearby areas have been reserved, providing approximately 2,200 rooms for the event. While cleanliness has always been a priority during such sessions, this is the first time water quality and food safety have been given significant focus.
The Winter Session of the Legislature is set to commence on December 9, with strict safety measures in place.
