A woman police officer at Hindalga Prison in Belagavi has accused a junior colleague of sexual harassment at the workplace.
Police Inspector Swapna Ullagaddi complained to Assistant Sub-Inspector Parashuram Bhimappa Banaj, alleging sexual harassment, verbal abuse, inappropriate physical contact, and physical assault, including hitting and pushing. According to her complaint, Banaj allegedly attempted to strangle her in the office on October 4, around 1 p.m. Both officers are part of the Karnataka State Industrial Security Force, responsible for security duties at the prison.
In response, Parashuram Banaj has filed a complaint against Swapna Ullagaddi, accusing her of misconduct, assault during duty hours, and insult.
Belagavi Rural Police have registered a case in the matter, with Police Sub-Inspector Santosh Dalawai visiting the prison on Sunday to investigate.
