A 5G jammer installed at Hindalga Jail has raised concerns among residents of nearby villages such as Vijayanagar, Ganeshpur, and Benakanahalli. The jammer, which was meant to prevent prisoners from using mobile phones illegally, has unintentionally disrupted mobile services, causing major inconveniences for locals.
Government offices in the region are facing server outages due to the lack of network access, while students preparing for exams are struggling with unreliable internet connectivity. Local residents have voiced their frustrations, pointing out that the security measure intended to improve jail safety is instead creating problems for the public.
The jammer was installed after a serious security incident in which a prisoner at Hindalga Jail allegedly issued a death threat to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. In response, jail authorities took steps to strengthen security and prevent unauthorized mobile use among inmates.
However, residents are now calling on prison officials to adjust the jammer’s frequency to reduce disruptions while still ensuring jail security.
