Rainwater inundated the Saundatti Yallamma Temple grounds, inconveniencing worshippers who had to navigate through the water to access the inner shrine. However, the water receded, and the temple was restored to its normal condition by Friday afternoon.
Heavy rainfall lashed most areas of Belgaum district on Thursday and Friday, leading to rising water levels in rivers and streams, flash floods in certain locations, and the toppling of trees. Although no significant damage was reported.
Homes in neighborhoods such as Maratha Colony, Hindalga, and Wadagon in Belgaum experienced flooding, along with certain areas in Bailholgal. The bridge-cum-barrage spanning a stream in Shirasangi village was submerged, while several trees toppled in Belgaum, Bailhongal, Hosur, and Amatur.
The water levels in multiple reservoirs witnessed a notable rise. At the Renuka Sagar Dam near Saundatti, the standing water level reached 2,042.80 ft, holding approximately 6.661 tmcft of water out of a total capacity of 36 tmcft. Similarly, the Raja Lakhamagouda Dam on the Ghataprabha river currently contains 8.5 tmcft of water compared to its total capacity of 51 tmcft.
