In a significant administrative reshuffle, the Karnataka government has transferred 34 IPS officers, including Belagavi DCP Rohan Jagadeesh, who has now been appointed as the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Gadag district.
The move comes amid rising criticism from the opposition over alleged lapses in law and order across the state. Responding to these concerns, the government issued wide-ranging transfer orders affecting multiple divisions within the police force, including crime, traffic, and intelligence wings.
Rohan Jagadeesh, who served as Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) in Belagavi, was known for his steady leadership and community-oriented policing. His tenure saw tighter control over organized crime and effective handling of sensitive events in the city.
This transfer is part of a broader reshuffle within the Karnataka Police Department, with several prominent officers being assigned to new roles in districts like Bengaluru, Dharwad, and Haveri. Key changes include:
- Ajay Hilori, appointed Joint Commissioner, Crime Division, Bengaluru
- Gunjan Arya, posted as SP, Dharwad
- Siddharth Goel, now SP, Bagalkot
- M.N. Anuchet, appointed DIG, Recruitment Division
The reassignments follow reports of prison system irregularities and growing concerns about enforcement efficiency. With this overhaul, the government aims to improve accountability and restore public confidence in the police machinery.
As Rohan Jagadeesh moves to his new post in Gadag, Belagavi bids farewell to an officer recognized for his firm yet citizen-friendly approach to policing.
