In a recent incident, burglars broke into a house in Melavanki village of Gokak taluk and stole gold and silver ornaments worth ₹5.40 crore along with ₹50,000 in cash.
Bharathi Nagaraj Bakale, who was residing in the rented house where the theft occurred, has lodged a complaint at the Gokak Rural Police Station.
On the same day, another burglary was reported from Melavanki village, in which gold and silver jewellery worth ₹1.64 crore and ₹25,000 in cash were stolen from a separate house.
Lakshmavva Siddharudha Babaleppanavara and Ningavva Kareppa have filed a complaint at the Kamathi police station. Police have registered separate cases and are investigating the incidents.
