The much-discussed Belgaum DCC Bank election results were announced on October 19, marking a major win for the Jarkiholi Brothers, who regained full control after 29 years. However, amid the celebrations, a tragic incident occurred.
Mallanna Yadava, a close aide of MLA Ashok Pattana, won the Ramadurga DCC Bank director post. Shortly after the victory celebrations, former PKPS president and Pattana’s associate, Giriyappa Gantoti (40), suffered a fatal heart attack.
A resident of Kamakeri in Ramadurga taluk, Giriyappa had actively campaigned alongside MLA Pattana for Yadava’s victory. Sadly, he collapsed and died later that night, shortly after attending the celebration.
The sudden demise of Giriyappa has cast a pall of grief over Ramadurga and Belgaum, shocking those who had just been rejoicing over the election win.
