The Forest Department has implemented a prohibition on accessing all waterfalls situated in the western region of Khanapur taluka, a well-liked tourist spot renowned for its picturesque scenery. This measure aims to improve visitor safety due to an increasing frequency of tourist accidents in recent times.
The prohibited waterfalls, namely Kankumbi, Parwad, Chikhale, Chigule, Chapoli, and Maan, are located within dense forest areas. The Forest Department has justified the ban by emphasizing the importance of preventing unfortunate accidents and ensuring the safety of tourists.
A public awareness initiative has been initiated, involving prominent signage placed at various tourist locations to notify visitors about the entry restrictions. Department officials and local law enforcement have reiterated their commitment to enforcing strict penalties against those who disregard the ban.
