A farmer was reportedly injured in a wild bear attack in Hulanda village of Khanapur taluk, Belagavi district, Karnataka, on September 14. The victim, Vasudeva Narayana Gawade, sustained serious wounds on his stomach, chest, and face.
He stated that the bear attacked him while he was returning from his field and suspects it strayed from the nearby Kanakumbi forest. Gawade has been admitted to the district hospital, and forest officials have visited him following the incident.
