A 30-year-old woman, Aarti Anil Chavan, who was six months pregnant, died after being treated for a non-pregnancy-related condition, prompting her family to accuse the doctor of negligence. The incident occurred at a private hospital in the Belagavi district.
Aarti was admitted to Adarsh Hospital on Tuesday morning due to abdominal pain. A doctor later informed the family around 2 PM that the fetus had died. The family was quoted a treatment cost of 30,000 rupees, with an initial payment of 10,000 rupees required. They agreed to pay the amount but were unable to pay the full dues immediately. The family claims that due to this non-payment, the pregnant woman did not receive proper care, which they believe contributed to her death.
Following the incident, family members protested outside a local police station, demanding legal action against the hospital. They expressed their grief and called for justice, leading to a formal complaint filed at Khadebazar Police Station.
