The proposal put forth by Minister of Public Works and District Minister, Satish Jarkiholi, involves the amalgamation of eight adjoining villages into the Belagavi City Corporation.
In accordance with the directives from the minister, the villages of Hindalga, Nilaji, Benakanahalli, Peeranwadi, Kangrali Khurd, Kangali Budruk, Kakati, and Macche are set to be incorporated within the jurisdiction of the Belagavi City Corporation. The minister has instructed officials to initiate the necessary preparations for the proposal.
The inclusion of these eight villages within the corporation limits is expected to result in an approximate population increase of 1 lakh, consequently leading to a potential expansion of 10 or more wards. To ensure parity, the provision of essential infrastructure such as roads, drainage systems, and other facilities will be extended to these newly incorporated areas, matching the standards of existing wards.
Minister Satish Jarkiholi emphasized the significance of merging the villages with the Belagavi City Corporation and emphasized the need for a comprehensive masterplan to guide the city’s overall development. In light of this, he has directed officials to promptly commence work on the proposal.
