Muslim organisations in Belagavi have decided to defer the Id Milad-un-Nabi celebrations to ensure the smooth conduct of Ganesh Chaturthi festivities.
The decision was made during a peace committee meeting chaired by Police Commissioner Borase Bhushan Gulabrao on Monday, with leaders of several organisations in attendance.
The festival, earlier scheduled for September 5, will now be observed on September 14. Commissioner Borase welcomed the move, calling it a gesture that strengthens communal harmony.
“This is the second consecutive year that the Muslim community has adjusted its festival dates for Ganesh Chaturthi. Their cooperation with the police and administration in maintaining peace and supporting public celebrations is highly appreciable,” he said.
Deputy Commissioners of Police Narayan Baramani and Niranjan Raje Urs, Assistant Commissioner of Police Gangadhar B.M., and other officials were also present.
