DK Shivakumar has chosen to postpone the decision on the proposed division of Belagavi district into three separate districts. While Minister Satish Jarakiholi supports the idea for administrative purposes, a final decision is pending.
Shivakumar wants to assure the public that the partition of Belagavi is not an immediate concern. He emphasizes that thorough consultations will precede any decision, and this delay allows for a more in-depth analysis of the situation, considering all aspects.
Currently, the Karnataka government is deliberating on a plan to create Gokak and Chikkodi districts by splitting the existing Belagavi district. This announcement was made on August 15 in Belagavi and was discussed during a recent meeting between Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and northern Karnataka MLAs.
The government remains firmly committed to the holistic development of the district, including Belagavi City. To fulfill this commitment, numerous new projects will be designed and executed within the stipulated timeframe.
