Expressing concern over the rising cases of the JN-1 mutant virus, Deputy Commissioner Nitesh Patil has issued directives for precautionary measures. A government official in Belgaum has been confirmed to have contracted the coronavirus, prompting the official to undergo home isolation upon exhibiting symptoms.
To avert potential shortages of beds, oxygen, and ICU facilities in the district, Patil stressed the importance of readiness to control the spread of the JN-1 variant. A meeting convened on Thursday at the city collector’s office auditorium focused on discussing necessary steps.
Following state government guidelines, heightened inspections at the border are mandated. COVID-19 testing in border districts should be escalated, with prompt submission of reports. Patil underscored the significance of testing individuals with severe lung and respiratory problems for COVID-19.
Immediate COVID-19 testing is deemed crucial for those with severe lung issues, respiratory problems, or related symptoms. Instructions were given to designate separate rooms for COVID-19 patients in both government and private hospitals.
Health department officials, under Patil’s direction, are tasked with advising individuals displaying symptoms like fever, cough, and cold to seek immediate medical attention and adhere to precautionary measures. It is imperative for doctors and medical staff in hospitals to wear masks as a preventive measure.
Attendees accompanying patients in hospitals are required to maintain a safe distance from patients and wear masks consistently.
Patil emphasized the role of medical officers and tehsildars from taluk hospitals in regularly visiting healthcare facilities to monitor bed availability.
