District Commissioner Mohammad Roshan has announced the implementation of mock emergency drills in Belagavi city and Chikkodi taluk, aimed at enhancing the district’s preparedness for wartime or crisis scenarios.
Presiding over the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) meeting on Wednesday, the DC emphasized the need for realistic, well-coordinated simulations involving key departments such as Police, Health, Fire Services, and Transport.
The upcoming drills will focus on public awareness, emergency medical response, and fire safety during wartime-like situations. Color-coded zones—red, yellow, green, and black—will be designated to direct evacuation procedures and medical support for participants.
“These drills must be planned and executed in advance,” stated DC Roshan, noting that the exercises will take place in Kanagala (Chikkodi taluk) and selected areas in Belagavi city. Tahsildars have been tasked with managing local arrangements and inter-departmental coordination.
Key instructions include:
- Deployment of trained personnel and emergency equipment
- Activation of sirens and resident alerts in designated areas
- Involvement of college students for broader public engagement
- Execution of security checks at drill locations
The Fire Department will lead the drills, while medical teams will be on-site to simulate health responses.
DC Roshan commended previous disaster management efforts across the district and called on all officials to maintain a high level of readiness.
The meeting was attended by SP Dr. Bhimashankar Guled, Additional DC Vijaykumar Honakeri, Additional SP R.B. Basargi, City Commissioner Shubha B, Planning Director Mallikarjun Kaladagi, Animal Husbandry Deputy Director Dr. Rajeev Kuler, along with all taluk tahsildars and senior officials.
