A tragic accident near APMC on Wednesday claimed the life of a motorcyclist and left two others injured after they were hit by a car allegedly driven by Sripad Siddanagouda Kage, the nephew of Congress MLA Bharamgouda (Raju) Kage.
Basavaraj Puddalkatti (22) from Pudakalkatti, Gokak, succumbed to his injuries while being transported to the Belagavi district hospital. The two injured, Sannavittal Duradundi (30) of Makkalageri and Ningappa Hebbal (30) of Naganur, were rushed to a private hospital in Belagavi.
Eyewitnesses reported that Sripad Kage was behind the wheel when the accident occurred on the Pune-Bengaluru National Highway near Kittur. He sustained minor injuries. The victim’s body has been sent to Belagavi Institute of Medical Sciences for a post-mortem examination.
Officers from Kittur Police Station inspected the site, and a case is being registered. Superintendent of Police Bheemashankar S. Guled confirmed that an investigation is underway.
