Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will lay the foundation stone for major infrastructure projects in Belagavi next month, Guardian Minister Satish Jarkiholi announced on Friday.
The projects include a ₹200 crore flyover stretching 4.5 km from Sankam Hotel in Gandhi Nagar to Bogarves, passing through Ashok Circle, RTO Circle, Chennamma Circle, and College Road; a ₹55 crore deputy commissioner’s office complex that will retain heritage structures while replacing non-heritage buildings; and a ₹10 crore Patrika Bhavan, a three-storey press facility at Jadhav Nagar.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Roshan presented detailed maps and plans of the projects at the press briefing, which was also attended by MLA Asif (Raju) Sait, Police Commissioner Bhushan Gulabrao Borse, and Zilla Panchayat CEO Rahul Shinde.
Jarkiholi added that the government has sanctioned ₹20 crore in the first phase for a new district stadium near Kanabaragi, as the existing one will revert to the KLE Society after its lease ends. “We aim to complete the new stadium by the next Independence Day,” he said.
He further confirmed that Siddaramaiah will inaugurate several completed works, including projects initiated during his earlier tenure. The state has also approved ₹215 crore for the comprehensive development of the Renuka Yallamma temple in Savadatti, with Tourism Minister H.K. Patil overseeing its progress.
