A Class 10 student allegedly died by suicide after his parents refused to give him a mobile phone in Sidnal village of Nippani taluk.
The deceased has been identified as Rutesh Vijaya Nalavade (16), a resident of Sidnal. He was studying in Class 10 at a high school in Akkol village. According to sources, Rutesh had requested his parents to buy him a mobile phone. However, they declined and advised him to focus on completing his Class 10 examinations first, assuring him that they would provide a phone after the exams.
Upset over the refusal, the boy reportedly hanged himself at his house in the evening when no one else was present. A case has been registered at the Nippani Rural Police Station.
