A Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team from Delhi conducted a surprise raid at the Belagavi Cantonment Board office on Tuesday following allegations of corruption involving tender approvals and illegal appointments.
The operation is part of an ongoing probe into suspected administrative irregularities within the Cantonment Board. Officers reviewed key documents and began gathering evidence related to the accusations.
Sources said complaints submitted to the CBI in Delhi had alleged large-scale financial mismanagement by board officials while awarding contracts and implementing development works in the cantonment limits. The complaints also accused officials of misusing public funds and abusing their positions.
Acting on these inputs, a special CBI team reached Belagavi and launched the search, creating unease within the cantonment administration. The investigation is expected to intensify as more documents and statements are examined in the coming days.
