A dispute over a bill at Aayi Hotel on APMC Road in Belagavi escalated into violence when a BSF soldier allegedly stabbed a youth during an argument on Monday (September 30).
The accused, identified as Parusharam Ramgondnavar from Rukmini Nagar, was arrested and placed in judicial custody. The victim, Altaf Chougala from Ganjwad, sustained injuries and is receiving medical treatment. The incident occurred after four youths from Ganjwad got into a heated argument with the hotel owner over their bill.
Parusharam, who was dining nearby. intervened, and after a verbal altercation, allegedly stabbed Altaf in a fit of anger. Altaf was rushed to the hospital with severe injuries. Parusharam, stationed in Nagaland and on a 15-day leave in Belagavi, was also previously involved in a bar brawl two years ago. A case has been registered at the APMC police station.
