A gruesome murder occurred early in the morning in Mamadapur, a village in Gokak taluk. A man sleeping on a temple platform was brutally hacked to death. The incident, captured on CCTV, took place in Mamadapur village, Belgaum district. The victim, identified as 47-year-old Maddeppa Yallappa Banasi, was sleeping on the platform of the Beerasiddeshwara temple when the accused, Beerappa, attacked him with a lethal weapon. Despite being rushed to the district hospital after the severe assault, Maddeppa succumbed to his injuries.
The murder is believed to be the result of a property dispute between the two individuals. The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Gokak Rural Police Station. After the killing, the accused was restrained and handed over to the police.
