Uday Bhosale (43), a member of Karambal Gram Panchayat in Khanapur taluk and an active BJP worker, lost his life in a road accident near Desur on the Belgaum-Khanapur Road. A resident of Kaundal (Khanapur taluk), he had served on the panchayat for four years and was known for his contributions to local development.
The incident occurred around 6 PM on Monday evening near the Desur bridge on the Panaji-Belgaum highway. Bhosale, who was travelling on a two-wheeler, was struck by a car and died on the spot.
Accompanying him was Indian Army personnel Prashant Patil (41) of Karambal village, who was also riding a two-wheeler. He sustained serious injuries and has been shifted to Belgaum for treatment.
Upon hearing of the tragedy, MLA Vitthal Halgekar along with BJP leaders Pramod Kocheri, Gundu Topinkatti, Mallapa Marihal, Bharmani Patil, and Raju Siddhani, visited the accident site.
Bhosale is survived by his wife, children, and sister. His untimely death has cast a pall of gloom over the village.
