Central Team Concludes Three-Day Inspection in Belgaum under Cities 2.0 Project. On Wednesday (July 2), the Cities 2.0 central team recommended leveraging technology under the Smart City Mission to eliminate garbage blackspots, enhance cleanliness, and promote public awareness.
The New Delhi-based central team, which had been inspecting Belgaum for three days as part of the Smart Cities 2.0 initiative, concluded its visit on Wednesday. The team reviewed sanitation efforts undertaken by the Municipal Corporation and evaluated Smart City projects in progress. Belgaum has received an approved funding of ₹135 crore under Cities 2.0, designated for cleanliness-related works.
On the final day, a review meeting was held at the Smart City Command and Control Centre with project officials. The team emphasized the need to deploy surveillance cameras to identify and address garbage dumping spots across the city. They also advised using public speakers to spread cleanliness messages and suggested installing display boards to educate citizens on waste segregation and hygiene.
The meeting was attended by Smart City Scheme Managing Director Saida Afrinbanu Ballari, Assistant Engineer Kanchan Malgar, and other officials.
