A young individual hailing from Belgaum district has made a safe return to Tammur amidst the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas militants. The Indian government’s Operation Ajay remains steadfast in its mission to ensure the well-being of Indian citizens abroad, and with its assistance, this young man has been reunited with his homeland.
Mahaveer Halakarni, a resident of Hosur village in Hukkeri taluk, arrived in Tammur on a Sunday after completing his studies at Ben Gorin University in the Beersheva region of Israel, where he had been pursuing his education for the past two years. The decision to return to India was prompted by the prevailing turmoil in Israel.
Sharing his experiences of the situation in Israel, Mahaveer described the prevailing atmosphere of fear within the country. He expressed his relief at being back in India and conveyed his gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for the effective implementation of Operation Ajay. Mahaveer regarded the operation as a resounding success and highlighted the government’s consistent efforts in reaching out to all concerned Indian citizens.
He recounted the moments when sirens sounded, signaling potential attacks. Whenever the siren blared, everyone was instructed to seek shelter in the bunker, causing moments of anxiety and concern. Mahaveer also noted that the Indian Embassy’s WhatsApp group maintained contact with them, and they were informed about their safe return to their motherland.
Operation Ajay, a rescue initiative by the Indian government, is focused on ensuring the safety of around 18,000 Indian citizens stranded in Israel due to the ongoing conflict. The operation, which commenced last Thursday, includes the registration of individuals seeking repatriation. The Indian Embassy in Israel has established a helpline for distressed Indian citizens and has provided emergency contact information for those in need.
