A 135 km-long human chain is set to be formed from 9:30 am to 10:30 am on September 15 in celebration of International Democracy Day. Organizers anticipate the participation of around 125,000 people. District Collector Mohammad Roshan urged local residents to join in to ensure the event’s success.
“The Indian constitution is unparalleled globally. This initiative aims to promote awareness about our constitutional rights and responsibilities,” Roshan stated during a press conference in the city on Thursday.
The effort includes creating a 2,500 km human chain across 30 districts, stretching from Basavakalyan in Bidar to Chamaraja Nagar. In Belgaum district, participants will form a chain from Salahalli in Ramadurga taluk to Tegur in Kittur taluk, encompassing several key points including K. Chandragi, Sopadl in Savadatti Taluk, and various locations in Belgaum Taluk.
Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Rahul Shinde noted that students, Gram Panchayat members, employees, and other community members would take part. Various committees, led by Tehsildars, have been organized for the event. Those participating will utilize private school buses, government vehicles, and personal transport.
Social Welfare Department Joint Director Raman Gowda Kannoli and other officials were also present.
