Satish Jarakiholi, Minister of Public Works and District In-charge, mentioned that discussions were held between the Department of Medical Education and himself regarding the recruitment of staff and procurement of medical equipment for the upcoming super specialty hospital in Belgaum city, which will soon begin its operations.
During a review meeting of Belgaum Institute of Medical Sciences (BIMS) development, Minister Satish Jarakiholi and Medical Minister Sharan Prakash Patil briefed the media. They highlighted the impending operational launch of the Belgaum Super Specialty Hospital, built at a cost of Rs. 188 crore on BIMS grounds. To initiate operations, an annual budget of Rs. 38 crore is required, pending approval from CM Siddaramaiah. Minister Jarakiholi also stressed plans to recruit 570 A-group and B-group staff members for the hospital.
The new super specialty hospital aims to deliver top-quality healthcare services to the public, encompassing neurology, neurosurgery, plastic surgery, endocrinology, gastroenterology, nephrology, and surgical gastroenterology among its offerings.
Minister Satish Jarakiholi also discussed with Sharanprakash Patil about constructing a nursing hostel and a 450-bed teaching hospital at BIMS in Belgaum. He urged officials to accelerate the development of BIMS to ensure timely completion.
Present at the meeting were Belgaum BIMS Director Ashoka Kumar Shetty, Chief Administrative Officer Dr. Siddu Hulloli, and other senior medical officers.
